Progressive muscle relaxation is a scientifically proven technique that can help you with overthinking, releasing stress, relieving muscle tension, and to relax your body to help you fall asleep. You can make use of free guided muscle relaxation videos available on YouTube. Here’s a free one that you may find useful.

Breathe App:

This is a free app that supports you in your breathing exercises. You can set the length of your session (ex: 2 minutes), the number of cycles (inhale, hold, exhale, hold), and visualize your breathing.

This app is especially helpful as you can set your desired time, and the number of inhales, exhales, and holds for box breathing (4,4,4,4). You can also set notifications to ensure you don’t forget to do this breathing exercise everyday to make it a habit. I highly encourage you to turn on the notifications.

You can start with only 1-2 minutes a day and gradually increase.

Guided Meditation App:

Meditation can be a great way to reduce stress and anxiety, improve focus, and increase your mental health and sense of happiness. It can also help boost your productivity and help with your sleep. If this sounds like something you want to try, the Calm app is a great place to start!

Sleep Cycle App:

Sleep is a basic requirement for your overall wellness. It helps your emotional regulation (being able to manage your emotions), your ability to focus, and keeping you mentally and physically healthy. You may be shocked to know just how important a good night’s rest is, and how much it can improve nearly all aspects of your life. Especially if you’re someone who has a busy schedule and experience a lot of stress.

Sleep Cycle helps you to better health through better sleep. Sleep Cycle tracks and analyzes your sleep quantity and quality. It also offers resources that help you improve your rest and recovery.

Yuka – Food & Cosmetic scanner

Yuka is a free app that helps you make more conscious choices when it comes to the foods and cosmetics you consume. It helps you detect the nutritional value, harmful chemicals, and additives that can compromise your health. It also provides the explanation of the harmful chemicals backed by the scientific data if you want to look into them further. What I love most is that the app offers healthier alternatives to something that you’re consuming, making transitioning to a healthier lifestyle much easier!

The app “allows you to scan the barcodes of food and personal care products and instantly see their impact on your health. A rating and detailed information help you understand the analysis of each product. When a product has a negative impact on your health, Yuka also recommends similar but healthier alternative products.” This is an app that I use for all of my food and personal care purchases. Try it out for yourself and gain the benefits!
