Inspiring Minds Canada Panel Discussion

by | Jul 21, 2019

I had the pleasure of being a panelist for Inspiring Minds Canada this summer. It was an amazing event with the initiative to “inspire, empower and awaken individuals to reach their full potential through education and innovation.” The event united experts from diverse backgrounds as an effort to bridge western and Eastern knowledge on mental health and well-being practices. The event was open to the public and we came together to discuss concerns about mental and physical health challenges. We asked uncomfortable questions and discussed holistic solutions.

It was an honour to share the stage with such great leaders of well-being in the community, such as Dr. Bhante Saranapala, who is a Global Public Speaker and teacher of mindfulness meditation. He was the recipient of “Canada 150 Medal and Sesquicentennial Community Award” from the Government of Canada and Spirit Award from the Government of Ontario. We also had experts in alternative medicine such as Dr. Vikas Puri, who is President & Co-Founder of Intelligent Health Group, a Chiropracter, and Health Coach. One of my favourite panelists was Constable Amy Boudreau, an Executive Board Member for the International Society of Crime Prevention Practitioners (ISCPP), on the Community Engagement Team for the Canadian Society of Evidence Based Policing (CANSEBP), and sits on the Peel Regional Police Association Legal Committee and By-Laws/Constitution Committee. She serves as a Mental Health Ambassador for fellow police officers who face many mental health challenges due to the nature of their work and the stigma attached to receiving help.

Other panelists included business entrepreneurs, an addiction counsellor, Naturopath, acupuncturist, a metaphysician, and a teacher. Much thanks to Founder John Tran and host Tiffanie Carr for putting this together!
